Every year on C's birthday we go to the Haggen pumpkin pile and take his picture (and get a doughnut). This year he's sporting his new fauxhawk. The poor hairdreser was like "what do you expect from me lady?", no miracles, that's for sure. She was really sweet and C was feeling a lot better by the time we left. I think he looks really "Grease Lightning" in these photos, but not so much in real life (you know, where he never sits still for inspection). 
As you can see, there is still a pretty noticeable hole, but when it's not pulled up into a mohawk it's a lot less obvious now that it's all a lot shorter.
We took the day off yesterday, and basically relaxed. We carved our pumpkins, got the hair cut, played at the park and had soccer practice. It was really wonderful to have a 3-day weekend when no one else had one. We got a lot done and still had plenty of time to do my favorite thing, nothin'.
Here are our pumpkins, C did the little one entirely by himself. He was so proud of his work! Then he directed me on all the pointedness the big pumpkin needed to be adequately scary. I was happy to have him last for the entire activity. Usually kids poop out half way through gutting the pumpkins and run off to play. But he even hung around long enough to help me mop up the floors. C- you're an awesome kid! I sure love ya.
