C got his first taste of going tubing last Wednesday night at the lake. And of course he LOVED it. I knew he would, he's so fearless! Mom, Dad and Auntie B took him up to Lake Whatcom and launched the boat in the late afternoon. Then the excitement started. Dad headed up to park the truck and take a pit stop. On the way he got to witness a police "incident" that ended with a taser. While he's busy talking to the nice officers anf being a good samaritan, Mom, Belinda and C are trying desperately to stop the boat from sinking.
Excuse me? But what is the first rule of launching a boat? Oh yeah, make sure the plug is in. Or at the very least, have the faintest idea where the plug might be. It might also be good to have the battery charged and bilge pump turned on. Details, details. That's what you get when you don't launch the poor baby for 6 years. You go through all that work getting it detailed, then nearly lose it in the first 10 minutes. My poor Father the professional. We were all laughing that everyone watching was just rolling their eyes at the dumb novice boaters that couldn't get their acts together. And all the while, Dad is just cursing all the dang commoners he has to deal with at the public (say it like it smells bad) dock. Hee, hee. But he sure does show 'em who's boss when he whips that puppy right into the slip, smooth like butta'. Because that takes skills.
Here's C on a tube with me. I'm facing backward and he's facing forward. Auntie is in the tube next to us.
He took one big spectacular spill with Auntie. They flipped over completely coming over the wake. It was a tad cold in the water. I was pleased to stay in my tube and let Auntie take the plunge with the kiddo.
And then there's just something about cold water and hanging on for dear life that wears a boy out.
