Tonight at bedtime (this one's a repeat, we've had this conversation a number of times now)C: I love you mom, you're the best mom in the whole world.

C: No! "A" too, me and "A"! We're both your best boys!
(Long rambling rant ahead)
Pretty amazing attitude considering I made him wait in line at Fred Meyer today for almost an hour just to buy milk and batteries. I should have known when there was no parking, or when there wasn't a single shopping cart left, but no. The line looked like something you'd see outside Walmart on Black Friday. Calm down people, another week of subfreezing will NOT cause Armageddon. All I wanted was some milk, a little toothpaste, okay the batteries were to back-up the smoke detectors if the power goes out. But seriously, it should not take 1 1/2 hours to go to the grocery store! Sheesh.
The worst part was getting up to the head of the line and realizing the line that snaked all around the outside of the store only fed into ONE cashier. All of us civilized people that saw the big line and got in it at the end, got totally screwed. Right when we got toward the front they started trying to pull us out of line and put us into other lines (into the BACK of other lines, yes they waiting until we got to the FRONT to ask us to get into the BACK of another line) because the line was becoming a fire hazard or something. Of course by the time we got to the front we were committed, and by golly not giving in and starting over (regardless of how short the new line was). It was just too much of an insult to go get in the back of another line after putting in all that time (and we were sort of making friends with the other shoppers, you know, watching their carts while they took bathroom breaks). So we all just gave the employee the stink eye and stayed put, too much pride to admit defeat. Poor little thing, hell hath no fury like scorned shoppers. But we were very nice to the checkout clerk (who for some reason changed every 10 minutes or so). You'd think someone would have the brilliant idea to go to the BACK of the line and let everyone know that there are ten more short lines just around the corner?? Just a thought.

just so glad that we both live in an area that refuses to panic when the weather changes from rain.... Its embarrassing... And people are dumb. Those buses that hung over the freeway -- in my neighborhood. I wouldn't have walked down that street nevermind decide to take a scenic tour in a bus down there.... Glad you stuck your ground. It's really all about the principle.
Winter storm/Christmas shopping has got to be the number one reason for mental institution committments. I was out yesterday and well, I do not need to repeat that even for a VERY LONG TIME. And people are mean-that is what makes it so horrible. I can deal with a lot of people and understand having to wait a bit in lines, but the pushiness, bad attitudes, and MEANY-PANTS driving that occurs in the parking lots makes me want to move to a deserted island. Well, now there's an idea......
First, does "that" come in a lotion or pill form to get your child to do that?! :) That's awesome...
Yeah, I know what you mean regarding "winter weather" ... here in TN, if there is even a threat of snow ... 1) driving gets worse and 2) no milk or bread are on the shelves and it's like people won't be able to leave their house for weeks ... it's pretty funny except when you really need to go to the store for something and get caught up in all the chaos...you would think they would have a waiting line traffic director out there but that would make sense and cause issues to all the chaos...

That photo of your son is the best. Do you think he could make a housecall to my house and offer to share his love of this job with me kids? I have yet to see their faces this excited for their job. Good job Mama!

We did Fred Meyer here too. BIG mistake. The lines weren't as long as you experienced, but were quite ridiculous. It was so bad they were handing out cookies to the folks in line. Maybe next time you can just drive a couple hours down south to hour Fred Meyer and save some time? :)
